I am Strong - Bone Support

I recently received my order of the Kirkman Bone Support Calcium Supplement, 180 Vegetarian Capsules in September 2024, with an expiration date of June 2027. Here's my experience with this product:

These tablets are compact and have a smooth coating that makes them easy to swallow. They’re also odorless, which is a plus.

I don't know what "Rose" calcium is but there is 800 mg in a serving of 3 caps. The caps are pretty large though so you might need allot of water to take them.

These taste terrible and leave a really bad taste in your mouth. I had to throw them away just because I could not stomach them.

The sources of this calcium supplement are a bit different than some others I've tried in the distant past. However, as always before, when I take a calcium supplement I get calf cramps. So, evidently not for me to take calcium supplements; unbalances my magnesium requirements that I'm barely keeping up with as it is. Maybe I get enough calcium from my food already. The magnesium used in this looks like it is mostly from oxide and that is the one that is the hardest for me to absorb so it isn't counteracting the calcium for me. Tried it, don't like it, but... could work for others.

The pills are a little big considering there seems to be enough room for the powder to shift. Doesn't taste much of anything that I noticed. Doesn't say what percentage of the calcium comes in what form, so I wouldn't bank on it not being mostly the cheapest form with a fraction of the rest.

Print quality on the label is slightly blurry on my bottle.

These have 5 different types of calcium plus vitamin D (for enhanced absorption) in a flavorless, mid-sized capsule. 3 capsules give you 800mg, but I prefer to take 2 capsules twice a day. My doc told me that the body can only take in so much calcium at a time, so a 500-600 dose twice a day is a better option for me.

You'll want to take these with food.

Arrived on time and package was safety sealed. Unfortunately, one serving is 3 capsules. Seems like a lot to me to be able to get the full effects.

This review is for Kirkman Bone Support Calcium Supplement. I usually prefer supplements/minerals to deliver one class of ingredients only so that there is no overlap with the contents of other supplements I might be taking. This calcium supplement is ideal for people suffering from renal insufficiency as it contains phosphorus-free calcium. In addition to calcium, it delivers magnesium in small dose and also vitamin D to help with bioavailability. It is manufactured by (and not “for”) Kirkman Group, which is a plus, as they can control its composition. The only comment I have is that the serving dose is 3 pills a day. Although this might improve bioavailability, increasing the number of pills is something many might not want since they could have a very complex combined load of pills to take each day.

These calcium supplements are just what I needed, helps with bone support and I've had no issues swallowing them or having any symptoms afterward.

I really like this Calcium supplement. It's very well dosed and contains several types of calcium. The capsules are average to large in size but easy enough to take. This product arrived very fresh with a three years to expiration. Good product at a fair price.

I don't understand why it's specifically states bone health when the other mixed ingredients are random. Also, I don't care for taking 3 capsules for that amount of calcium. I had no adverse stomach issues.

If you have low bone density, or just don't eat enough calcium, this is a great way to supplement your diet. This has 5 types of calcium, vitamin c, d, and magnesium. I don't have to take multiple pills to get all that in the 3 per day that this supplement provides. Easy to take, and the pills aren't too large. Vegetarian, tested, and hypoallergenic.

I'm used to calcium pills, which are usually solid tablets, but these are in a capsule. These include a few other small elements that logically go with calcium. Nonetheless, the quantity of those elements is low, so I'm not sure how useful the collection is. Plus, since you must take three of them to get 800 mg, which still needs to be potentially more, many capsules will be taken in one day. If you're after calcium, I have to say it might make a lot more sense to get calcium tablets

The capsules were all intact with no visible powder residue on them or the inside of the bottle
3 capsules is a lot and that only gives you 62% RDV although you are getting calcium from 6 listed ingredients whereas the label says 5.
I am going to reduce my intake to two caps a day as I have other supplements containing some calcium that will get me to that 100% mark.
Of course, you don't want too much calcium as that may lead to Hypercalcemia and possibly kidney stones. Check your recommended intake according to your age so you stay within range.

I eat a diet that has foods containing calcium; we all do. I have recently been prescribed medication that has side effect of inhibiting calcium absorption, to want to make sure I am getting enough calcium and wanted to add a supplement to my daily regimen.

Calcium is one of those things you can get too much of. And too much is no good. I was looking to supplement my calcium intake, not replace it with a pill. Look at the dosage on some of those "supplements" and see how much is in a single pill (yikes-!!!). Hence, I went looking for lower dosage and found these. If you look at a typical dose, also realize this is three (3) capsules so you can reduce this pretty easily too. And not just calcium, source of calcium also matters and this provides calcium from five (5) different salts (although when you look at the ingredient list, I count six [6] calcium salts). Also with calcium, you need some support elements; you lack those and again you aren't getting absorption. Vitamin D, Magnesium, I was intrigued by Essential Amino Acid Lysine but that aids calcium absorption. I do note one missing; no Vitamin K here?

I like that it has five different sources of calcium, it always seems to me that you get the possibility of more benefits when you have multiple sources like that. I know the vitamin D and L-lysine are to help increase the bioabsorbability of the calcium, not sure about the other ingredients but wouldn't be surprised if they're included for the same purpose.

The bottle is huge, comes double safety sealed, and contains 180 capsules that are easy enough to swallow. It's manufactured in a GMP facility, which is good, and it says "Ultra tested" on the bottle, which I would take to mean that they test it within their own company facility, but do not third party test their supplements, which is a feature that I consider to be important, so for that I'm knocking off a star. I'm taking off one more star because I really prefer my calcium supplements to be plant sourced, and this one is not, but it seems serviceable and for a reasonable price.

Honestly, bone health supplements are not often a priority for me in my supplement regimen, but from the limited research I’ve done, calcium and vitamin D seem to help for those deficient. I’m pretty sure I’m not too deficient since I eat well and work out often, and I don’t like to overdo supplementation if not needed.

So, instead of the recommended dosage of three capsules a day, I take one and figure it couldn’t hurt as a preventative measure. I do like that this product discloses the dosages of each ingredient and I feel the pricing is fair, but if I did have an issue with bone density, I know there are stronger formulas on the market with patented ingredients designed to target this issue.

While I appreciate the 5 different sources of calcium, I do not like that every supplement manufacturer needs to include more than what their main marketing point is. In this case it is supposed to be a bone supporting calcium supplement. Why in the world is there vitamin c and d, magnesium, betaine and L-lysine in the product too? One usually takes a multivitamin to cover additional supplements but if every specialty supplement also includes a handful of other substances correct supplementation is rather difficult and might lead to over supplementation and potential side effects.
